About the Role

Kier Group is seeking a dedicated and proactive Agent to join our infrastructure division. In this pivotal role, you will take ownership of site-based operations, ensuring that complex engineering projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. As a key link between site teams and senior management, you will foster a culture of excellence and safety while driving technical performance across every stage of the project lifecycle.

As an Agent, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site activities, providing clear leadership to subcontractors and internal staff. You will apply your deep technical expertise to solve engineering challenges on-site, ensuring that all works align with design specifications and quality standards. This position is ideal for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about building the essential infrastructure that connects communities across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage site-based teams, ensuring all construction activities are executed in accordance with the project program and safety regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation and implementation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to maintain a zero-harm environment.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including clients, designers, and local authorities, to ensure smooth project progression and effective communication.
  • Monitor project costs and resource allocation, identifying opportunities for value engineering and cost-saving without compromising quality.
  • Manage the procurement of plant and materials, ensuring all resources are available to meet the construction schedule.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality audits to ensure compliance with technical specifications and environmental standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and site staff, fostering professional development within the team.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, including daily site diaries, progress reports, and as-built drawings.

Qualifications

  • A degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Civil Engineering or a related construction discipline.
  • Proven experience working as a Site Agent or Senior Engineer on large-scale infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
  • Valid CSCS Card (Black or Gold) and professional certifications such as SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
  • Strong understanding of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and their application in project management.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams and subcontractors effectively.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A valid UK driving license, as travel to various project sites will be required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to technical detail.
