About the Role
Kier Group is seeking a dedicated and proactive Agent to join our infrastructure division. In this pivotal role, you will take ownership of site-based operations, ensuring that complex engineering projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. As a key link between site teams and senior management, you will foster a culture of excellence and safety while driving technical performance across every stage of the project lifecycle.
As an Agent, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site activities, providing clear leadership to subcontractors and internal staff. You will apply your deep technical expertise to solve engineering challenges on-site, ensuring that all works align with design specifications and quality standards. This position is ideal for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about building the essential infrastructure that connects communities across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage site-based teams, ensuring all construction activities are executed in accordance with the project program and safety regulations.
- Oversee the preparation and implementation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to maintain a zero-harm environment.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, including clients, designers, and local authorities, to ensure smooth project progression and effective communication.
- Monitor project costs and resource allocation, identifying opportunities for value engineering and cost-saving without compromising quality.
- Manage the procurement of plant and materials, ensuring all resources are available to meet the construction schedule.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality audits to ensure compliance with technical specifications and environmental standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and site staff, fostering professional development within the team.
- Maintain detailed project documentation, including daily site diaries, progress reports, and as-built drawings.
Qualifications
- A degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Civil Engineering or a related construction discipline.
- Proven experience working as a Site Agent or Senior Engineer on large-scale infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
- Valid CSCS Card (Black or Gold) and professional certifications such as SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
- Strong understanding of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and their application in project management.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams and subcontractors effectively.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- A valid UK driving license, as travel to various project sites will be required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to technical detail.
