About the Role
YO IT Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Biology Quality Assurance Lead to join our elite expert network in a remote, contract capacity. In this pivotal role, you will bridge the gap between complex life sciences and cutting-edge artificial intelligence by overseeing the quality, consistency, and performance of trainers working on biology-focused AI training projects. You will be responsible for ensuring that AI-generated biology content meets the highest standards of scientific accuracy, logical reasoning, and safety. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of the world’s premier AI models, ensuring they are grounded in rigorous biological principles and clear, technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Quality Oversight: Conduct rigorous spot-checks on biology-related datasets to identify quality gaps, evaluate AI-generated explanations, and ensure adherence to complex project rubrics.
- Scientific Review: Assess biological mechanisms, experimental designs, genetic problems, and terminology for absolute correctness, clarity, and unit consistency.
- Team Leadership: Communicate updates to remote teams of trainers and QAs via Discord regarding guideline changes, workflow updates, and biology-specific review standards.
- Technical Feedback: Provide precise, structured written feedback to contributors, addressing issues such as hallucinated facts, flawed experimental reasoning, or incomplete scientific explanations.
- Documentation Management: Develop and maintain essential project resources including style guides, FAQs, calibration tasks, and onboarding materials to ensure team-wide alignment.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify and flag potentially unsafe or misleading biological recommendations, specifically regarding pathogens, lab procedures, genetic engineering, and biosafety protocols.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor contributor activation levels, encourage consistent participation, and propose scalable workflow improvements for large-scale data annotation projects.
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a closely related life sciences discipline.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 3+ years in biology research, laboratory work, scientific writing, technical review, or biotechnology quality control.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Deep understanding of core topics including cell biology, physiology, immunology, and experimental design, with the ability to interpret PCR/qPCR, sequencing, and bioinformatics data.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional English language proficiency with the ability to articulate complex scientific concepts and provide constructive feedback to a diverse technical team.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable working in fast-paced remote environments using tools such as Google Workspace, Discord, and project management dashboards.
- AI Data Experience: Prior experience in AI training, LLM evaluation, or rubric-based scientific content QA is highly preferred.
- Analytical Mindset: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to spot subtle errors in logic, missing context, or misleading scientific claims.
- Remote Flexibility: Work from anywhere in the world in a fully remote, hourly contract position.
- Expert Network Access: Joining our network positions you as a priority candidate for upcoming high-impact projects with leading AI foundation-model labs.
- Professional Growth: Gain unique experience at the intersection of biotechnology and artificial intelligence, contributing to the future of machine learning.
- Collaborative Environment: Engage with a global community of experts and contribute to the development of safer, more accurate scientific AI.
Please note: This is a pipeline position. While there may not be an immediate project start date, qualified candidates will be added to our expert network and contacted first as relevant biology-focused opportunities arise.
