Key Responsibilities- Facilitate the voting process by greeting electors and directing them to the appropriate stations within the polling location.
- Verify voter eligibility by checking identification and ensuring residents are registered on the provincial or local voters list.
- Administer solemn declarations and assist voters with the completion of necessary registration forms and ballots.
- Maintain the integrity and secrecy of the ballot by monitoring ballot boxes and ensuring proper handling of sensitive materials.
- Provide clear and neutral instructions to voters regarding how to mark and submit their ballots correctly.
- Assist with the set-up and take-down of voting equipment, signage, and physical station layouts to ensure an efficient flow of traffic.
- Collaborate with the Presiding Election Officer to resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise during the polling period.
- Accurately record and document activities throughout the day to ensure a transparent audit trail of the election results.
- Proven ability to remain strictly non-partisan and neutral while performing official duties in a public setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on providing exceptional customer service to a diverse population.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to follow complex verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Availability to work long hours on voting days, including early mornings and late evenings, often in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic technological proficiency to operate electronic voting machines or digital registration tablets if required.
- Previous experience in administration, customer service, or community volunteering is considered a strong asset.
- Must be legally entitled to work in British Columbia and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with the manual handling of election materials and supplies.
