About the Role
Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Data Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will act as a bridge between raw data and strategic decision-making, helping our global operations become more efficient and data-driven through rigorous analysis and innovative visualization techniques.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Junior Data Analyst, you will be responsible for the lifecycle of data integrity and reporting. Your primary duties will include:
- Extracting, cleaning, and validating data from various internal and external sources to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Analyzing large datasets to identify emerging trends, seasonal patterns, and actionable insights that support business growth.
- Designing, building, and maintaining interactive dashboards and visualizations that communicate complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Generating both recurring and ad-hoc reports for management, ensuring all KPIs and performance metrics are tracked effectively.
- Performing regular data quality audits and troubleshooting any discrepancies within our databases.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, and IT, to provide data-driven recommendations for process improvements.
- Documenting all data methodologies, workflows, and process discoveries to maintain a robust internal knowledge base.
We are looking for candidates who possess a strong foundation in quantitative analysis and a passion for technology. The ideal requirements include:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a closely related field.
- 0 to 2 years of professional experience in data reporting, analysis, or an equivalent academic project portfolio.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, specifically utilizing joins, aggregations, and window functions to query complex databases.
- Expert-level skills in Microsoft Excel, including mastery of Power Query, Pivot Tables, and advanced lookup functions.
- Exposure to data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Familiarity with Python (specifically Pandas and NumPy) for data manipulation is highly preferred.
- A basic understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) concepts and cloud-based environments like AWS or Azure.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings to a business-oriented audience.
