About the Role
Work Force Nexus is seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking Junior Machine Learning Engineer to join our dynamic remote team. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of integrating intelligence into our suite of products, helping to translate complex data into actionable insights and automated solutions. We are looking for an individual who is not only technically capable but also possesses a deep curiosity for how artificial intelligence can transform industries. As a Junior Engineer, you will receive direct mentorship from our senior staff, providing you with a clear and structured pathway to grow your skills in a professional, high-scale environment. This is a full-time, permanent position based in the United Kingdom, offering the flexibility of remote work alongside a culture that values technical excellence, transparency, and continuous innovation. You will play a vital role in bridging the gap between theoretical data science and production-ready software engineering. Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Junior Machine Learning Engineer, your primary focus will be on the end-to-end lifecycle of machine learning models. You will assist in the design and implementation of various algorithms, ensuring they are optimized for performance and accuracy. This involves cleaning, preprocessing, and analyzing large datasets to ensure high-quality training inputs for our systems. Collaboration is key; you will work closely with our software engineering teams to integrate these models into our core platform through robust APIs and microservices.
Additionally, you will be responsible for monitoring the performance of models in production, identifying drift or degradation, and performing regular maintenance and updates. You will contribute to the development and refinement of our internal MLOps pipelines to streamline model deployment and versioning. Beyond technical implementation, you will participate in code reviews, contribute to comprehensive technical documentation, and stay updated with the latest research in the field. Your work will also involve conducting rigorous testing and validation to ensure the reliability, security, and ethical fairness of all deployed models.
QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you should possess a strong academic background, typically evidenced by a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related quantitative field. You must demonstrate solid proficiency in Python and have hands-on experience with popular machine learning libraries such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch. A foundational understanding of statistics, linear algebra, and calculus as they apply to machine learning is essential for troubleshooting and model refinement.
We are looking for candidates who are comfortable with SQL and have experience managing relational or non-relational databases. Familiarity with version control systems, specifically Git, is required for our collaborative development workflows. While not mandatory, basic knowledge of cloud computing platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure will be highly regarded. Most importantly, you should possess excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive approach to learning new technologies, and the communication skills necessary to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders across the business.
