Key Responsibilities

In this vital role, you will be the face of Canada Post in your community, ensuring that every piece of mail reaches its destination safely and efficiently. Your daily duties will include:

  • Sorting, collecting, and delivering mail items, including letters and parcels, in a safe and timely manner.
  • Processing various Canada Post products and services, such as Change of Address Notifications and Damaged Mail reports.
  • Maintaining accurate knowledge of local infrastructure, including roads, customer locations, and delivery receptacles.
  • Ensuring all mail is securely stored while in your possession and maintaining high standards of safety.
  • Operating a motor vehicle daily while adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols.
  • Managing route logistics for a 11.4 km route with approximately 58 points of call.
  • Providing a qualified replacement or helper to cover absences, vacations, or extra hours as required to ensure service continuity.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet specific vehicle and administrative requirements to ensure they can handle the demands of the route. Requirements include:

  • A valid permanent provincial driver’s license (Class 5 or G) with a satisfactory safe driving record.
  • The ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs (22.7 kg) regularly.
  • A personal vehicle that meets mandatory requirements: minimum 50 cu ft cargo capacity, automatic transmission, power windows, and a metal roof-top for signage.
  • A vehicle window sill height between 38” and 45” from the ground and a maximum interior width of 56”.
  • The ability to provide a current driver’s abstract dated within the last 30 days.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Residency within 75 km of the Saint Vincent's Post Office is preferred.
