About the Role

Walden University is seeking a dedicated and student-centric Student Success Advisor for our evening shift to serve as the primary guide for adult learners pursuing their academic aspirations. In this remote-first role, you will act as a critical mentor and strategist, building personalized relationships with students from across the globe and ensuring they remain on a clear path toward graduation. By leveraging proactive outreach and coaching techniques, you will help students navigate the complexities of online higher education, manage their day-to-day academic expectations, and foster a deep sense of belonging within our vibrant online community.

This position is ideal for a service-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a genuine passion for educational equity and student retention. As an evening advisor, you will support students during the hours they are most active in their studies, providing essential stability and guidance when it is needed most. We are looking for a communicative, empathetic, and organized individual who can balance administrative precision with a human-centered approach to academic advising.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students, ensuring a seamless transition from admission through to degree completion.
  • Conduct proactive outreach to new students to verify overall readiness and resolve any outstanding administrative matters before the start of the term.
  • Advise students on university policies, degree requirements, and academic procedures to ensure compliance and progress.
  • Identify and support at-risk students by developing and implementing tailored academic success strategies to improve retention.
  • Assist students with course registration and long-term academic planning aligned with their career goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional university support teams to resolve complex student inquiries accurately and efficiently.
  • Empower students to develop accountability and time-management skills necessary for success in a graduate-level online environment.
  • Monitor student data and engagement metrics across multiple platforms to provide timely interventions and prevent academic stagnation.
  • Maintain the integrity of university standards while serving as a Campus Security Authority and advocate for student needs.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a high-touch service environment, higher education, or academic coaching.
  • Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and comfort working within complex student databases and CRM platforms.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport with a diverse, global student population.
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
  • Availability to work a standard schedule of Monday–Friday, 10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. or 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. local time, with occasional weekend shifts.
  • Residency in IL, MN, or MD is preferred, though other locations may be considered.
  • A self-starter mentality with the ability to adapt quickly to evolving academic policies and technological updates.

Benefits
  • Competitive hourly pay between $24.00 and $28.00 based on experience and location.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • Robust 401k Retirement Program including a 6% employer match.
  • Generous Paid Time Off policy including 15 days of vacation annually.
  • 12 paid holidays plus 2 floating holidays to support work-life balance.
  • Employer-provided life and disability insurance.
  • Opportunities for professional development within a mission-driven global education network.
