About the Role
As a Transportation Specialist with the Mississippi Army National Guard Biloxi Office, you serve as the backbone of our operational agility and logistical strength. Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will be responsible for the movement of vital resources across diverse terrains and high-stakes environments. Your primary duties include:
- Operating and maintaining a wide array of vehicles from the Guard’s fleet of 50,000 wheeled assets, including heavy cargo trucks and tactical vehicles.
- Executing complex convoy operations, ensuring the secure transport of personnel, sensitive equipment, and essential supplies during stateside and overseas deployments.
- Assisting in disaster relief and domestic emergencies by operating high-water vehicles and watercraft to reach stranded citizens and deliver life-saving aid.
- Managing vehicle loading and unloading procedures, ensuring all cargo is properly secured and weight distribution meets safety regulations.
- Performing preventative maintenance checks and services (PMCS) to ensure all assigned equipment remains in peak operational condition.
- Utilizing advanced navigation and communication systems to coordinate movement with command centers and other logistical units.
- Providing security for transport missions in combat environments, which may include operating mounted weaponry and implementing defensive driving tactics.
To excel as a Transportation Specialist, candidates must meet the following criteria and demonstrate a commitment to excellence:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident alien.
- Ability to meet the physical and medical standards required for military service.
- Strong spatial awareness and the ability to operate large, complex machinery in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow intricate logistical plans and safety protocols.
- A proactive mindset with the capacity to make quick decisions under pressure during emergency or combat scenarios.
- Willingness to complete the required Initial Entry Training (IET) and specialized Advanced Individual Training (AIT) focused on motor transport.
- No prior experience is required, as the Guard provides comprehensive technical training.
